Director of Security and HelpLine (Illinois) Responsible for developing and managing dynamic and progressive Security, HelpLine (an ombudsman/hotline process), and Emergency/Crisis planning programs.
Developed and directed company-wide physical and information security programs and related policies on physical security, information protection, computer security, access control and emergency planning. Planned security for landfills, trucking terminals, office buildings, water treatment and electric generating facilities, recycling centers, etc.
Launched and applied Crisis Management and Violence in the Workplace training, prevention, response and recovery processes.
Supported subsidiaries and operations in specific situations including investigations; planning for and responding to demonstrations, strikes and threats; protection of overseas staff and travelers; surveys and system planning; Assured Destruction (secure disposal); training; and security officer management.
Promoted awareness and understanding of Help Line, Emergency Planning and Security programs throughout the corporation.
Spearheaded and created the WMI HelpLine as part of the company’s compliance and ethics programs. The Help Line provided an alternative means of communications with executive management in matters of ethics, compliance, safety, fraud, employee relations and the environment. Talked with and reviewed concerns of 5,000 employees and customers in two years. Tracked issues and reported on trends to executive management. Serious issues were regularly raised which provided early warning and undoubtedly averted crises.
