Over thirty (30) years of security, business management, and compliance experience.   Created and managed innovative and effective security, ombudsman/hotline and crisis management/prevention processes for a large international company; responsible for all Northeastern US business operations of World’s largest security firm; and established two security businesses.   Extensive background in leading people and building teams, communicating with all levels, eliciting widespread program support, and assuring the reasonable and proactive protection of reputation, credibility, value, people and assets.   Work roles ranged from entrepreneur to executive management within multi-billion dollar international corporations.

Has served as Expert Witness for Plaintiff and Defense in a variety of security-related cases which have involved hospitals, hotels, parking structures, office buildings, retail and others.  References are available upon request.

Provide surveys/assessments, security planning, training, workplace violence prevention and response programs, awareness development and training, hotline development, support of outsourcing of security services, etc.

Litigation support and expert witness services for cases involving security-related negligence, wrongful death or injury, foresee ability, standards, etc.  Also support cases involving the adequacy of security-related employment/screening practices, policies and procedures, training, supervision, etc.

Vice President (Illinois) Responsible for all aspects of managing the Security Officer Division.  Largest provider of hospital security services in area.

1996 to 2000,  Pinkerton, Inc./Securitas    The World’s Largest Security Firm

Vice President     Responsible for leadership of Northeast Region composed of eleven states, eighteen offices and almost 4,000 employees.  Led company with over $ 11 Million in new sales in 1999.   Managed team that landed third largest client in company history in early 2000.   Established Northeastern Team based upon company Values and rebuilt company’s reputation in Northeast.  Significantly improved client and employee retention.   Placed strong operations and sales staff in key positions and markets.    

District Manager   Managed business operations in most of North Carolina including staff, P&L, sales & marketing, customer service, strategic planning, human resources, etc.   Transitioned operation from unprofitable to successful in one year.  “District Manager of the Quarter,” 3rd Quarter, 1997.  Southeastern Security Solutions Core Team Leader. 

1985 to 1996           Waste Management, Inc.     Illinois      
A publicly-held $ 12 billion international environmental  services company with 60,000 employees

Director of Security and HelpLine  (Illinois) Responsible for developing and managing dynamic and progressive Security, HelpLine (an ombudsman/hotline process), and Emergency/Crisis planning programs.

Developed and directed company-wide physical and information security programs and related policies on physical security, information protection, computer security, access control and emergency planning.  Planned security for landfills, trucking terminals, office buildings, water treatment and electric generating facilities, recycling centers, etc.

Launched and applied Crisis Management and Violence in the Workplace training, prevention, response and recovery processes.

Supported subsidiaries and operations in specific situations including investigations; planning for and responding to demonstrations, strikes and threats; protection of overseas staff and travelers; surveys and system planning; Assured Destruction (secure disposal); training; and security officer management.

Promoted awareness and understanding of Help Line, Emergency Planning and Security programs throughout the corporation.

Spearheaded and created the WMI HelpLine as part of the company’s compliance and ethics programs.   The Help Line provided an alternative means of communications with executive management in matters of ethics, compliance, safety, fraud, employee relations and the environment.   Talked with and reviewed concerns of 5,000 employees and customers in two years.  Tracked issues and reported on trends to executive management.   Serious issues were regularly raised which provided early warning and undoubtedly averted crises.

Created and maintained site Emergency Planning programs which supported actual responses to disasters and emergencies such as fires, hurricanes, earthquakes, threats, etc. as well as disaster recovery.

1981 to 1985   A Wholly-owned Security and Consulting Practice     Wisconsin   Owner and President

Provided security consulting services to manufacturers and hospitals.   Clients included GE Medical Systems, Wisconsin Bell, Parker Pen, Appleton Paper, Dairyland Power, Wisconsin Electric Power Co., Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, and Waste Management.

Provided expert witness and consulting services on security liability issues to law firms and insurance companies.

1970 to 1981 Wisconsin Industrial Police, Inc. (now a unit of Pinkerton, Inc.)       Wisconsin

A privately-held provider of security services throughout Wisconsin.
Vice President and General Manager (and part owner)   Managed all corporate functions including all staff, sales & marketing, client support, planning, budgets, insurance, training and employee relations.   This company grew to be the largest security firm in Wisconsin by 1980.

Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, Marquette University.
Have since attended classes, seminars and workshops on all aspects of management, security, compliance, and communications.
