Expert No. 1445Engineering and Construction ExperienceAs the owner of a small multi disciplinary engineering and surveying firm Expert 1445 has a complete understanding of the building and development process from beginning to end. He has thorough knowledge of the design and construction industries, including building codes and standards. His primary focus at Engineering was architectural and structural design of custom mountain homes many of which had very challenging environmental conditions such as: 140mph wind loads, high snow loads, bedrock, extreme temperatures and groundwater conditions. Expert 1445 has also performed wide-ranging evaluations of structural and building-envelope components and systems for residential, commercial and industrial facilities. He has performed numerous structural calculations and analyses for various combinations of structural loadings, including pressures induced by soils, fluids and winds as well as dead and live gravity loads. From these analyses, he has provided structural engineering designs, plans and specifications for repairs, improvements and new construction for a wide-range of structures and components
Expert 1445’s hands on construction experience and experience as a single family home general contractor also give him a very good understanding of how wood framed structures are properly built and how construction errors and defects occur. He has physically worked with excavation, foundation, framing, electrical and finish carpentry crews on numerous jobs, and has substantive experience inspecting and overseeing the construction of his designs in the field. Wood framed structures are a specialty for Expert 1445. He has taught classes on Wood Framed Wall Bracing, High Wind Design and the Design of Wood Framed Structures at the annual Colorado Chapter of the International Code Council Educational Institute
In addition to wood framed single family homes Expert 1445 has experience in the design and engineering of alterative construction methods such as Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) and Structurally Insulated Panels (SIP). Expert 1445 has also performed architectural design of commercial buildings (code analysis, energy analysis, fire resistance rated construction, life safety, means of egress, ADA accessibility).
As a Civil Engineer Expert 1445 has years of experience in both private and public infrastructure projects. This includes the design of grading, drainage, utilities, and roadways. He has worked on single family, multi family, commercial and industrial projects.
Expert 1445 was awarded Larimer County’s Outstanding Professional of the Year Award for 2008. This award is awarded once a year to the Engineer or Architect who displays the most complete understanding of the Building Codes and who prepares the most clear and concise plans.
