Qualifications

Registered professional engineer with 34 years of design and project management experience.

Responsible for the technical review of Central Maine Power Company civil engineering projects for 15 years.

Involved in a broad range of civil engineering activities related to the design, management and construction of buildings, roads, bridges, and hydro projects.

Professional Experience & Accomplishments

Technical

Brunswick Project (Central Maine Power Co.): Designed 32.5-foot wide by 21-foot high Taintor gates, concrete ogee spillway, support piers and hoist support deck.  Managed gate fabrication and erection.

Rangeley Dam (Union Water Power): Designed concrete ogee spillway to replace timber crib structure.

Hydro Experience

Designed numerous gates and appurtenant structures, dams, and cofferdams.

Provided technical review and oversight of in-house and consultant design services for over 15 years on the Central Maine Power Company Hydro System.

Conducted investigations on dam stability, anchoring, dam movement, and seepage.

Monitored and documented instrumentation for uplift and dam movement on numerous dams.

Oversaw the FERC inspections for the Central Maine Power Company Hydro System for over 10 years.

Accompanied FERC inspectors on annual and biannual inspections, responding to and resolving dam safety issues.
Conducted numerous annual dam safety inspections for the over 40 hydro facilities in the Central Maine Power Company Hydro System over the past 20 years.

Performed FERC Part 12 inspections for various projects in New England.

Management

Dam Safety (Central Maine Power Co.): Managed the FERC 5-year Independent Consultant Dam Safety

Inspection Program.  Oversaw FERC annual dam safety inspections and provided technical responses to FERC inquiries.  Managed the company’s dam monitoring program.

Worumbo Project (Central Maine Power Co.): Project Manager for the FERC licensing and design of a new powerhouse addition.

Edwards Dam Removal (State of Maine): Project Manager for the permitting, public relations, design and removal of the 1018 foot long timber crib on the Kennebec River in Augusta, Maine.
