PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

Graduate Sport Management Program Review Committee
2002 - 2005: In order to make the graduate Sport Management Degree more marketable a decision was made to reduce the program from a two-year 36 credit hour degree to a comprehensive, one-year program composed of 30 hours.

1995 - 2002: The new curriculum developed by our committee paid close attention to the guidelines provided by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education and the North American Society for Sport Management; to the content of recognized sport management curriculums throughout the United States, and to the staffing and resources of the SRU Physical Education department.

Undergraduate Sport Management Major
2006: The curriculum for both the undergraduate and graduate Sport Management programs was altered, making three undergraduate courses (SPMT 386, 399, and 486) 500 level courses (SPMT 506, 599, and 586).

2004: A proposal was submitted and approved to change from the Department of Physical Education & Sport Management (PESM) to the Department of Sport Management (SPMT) and the Department of Physical Education (PE).

2001 - Present: Anticipating the State System Board of Governors mandate the undergraduate major was reduced from 128 to 120 credit hours.

1995 - 2001: A proposal was submitted and approved to change from a Bachelor of Science with a major in Physical Education to a Bachelor of Science with a major in Sport Management.
