Supplies expert technical and engineering services for the sales, service, start-up, field service engineering, trouble-shooting of industrial equipment, and forensic engineering to 
determine cause of failure and injuries.  Provides expert witness testimony for the litigation of industrial accidents, machine performance, OSHA Rules, NFPA Standards, Electrical Shock

Rome Strip Steel Company, Inc., Rome, New York.
Major producer of low carbon, high carbon, alloy, and high strength-low alloy strip steels, precision cold rolled strip steels in standard coils, traverse wound coils, and cut lengths.

Engineering Manager: Managed the entire engineering function.  Responsible for designing, purchasing, installing, and maintaining all plant operating equipment and facilities.  Supervised 
four engineers, three foremen, and 21 technicians.  This included recruiting and training personnel, dealing with governmental bodies, engaging and supervising contractors, and acting as 
the company’s spokesman, especially in dealing with all energy-supplying utilities, the NYS Public Service Commission, etc.  The equipment installed has enabled the company to become the premier cold rolled strip steel producer in the United States.

Significant Projects: Three-stand cold rolling mill; single-stand reversing cold mill; roll grinding machines; Z-mill; 20 batch annealing furnaces; double loop slitting line; traverse-wind 
coil slitting line; electrical substation; heavy gauge slitting line; cold mill and processing line terminal equipment; specifying and purchasing of overhead cranes; building maintenance; 
water recycling in order to save on purchased water costs; environmental protection; direct purchasing of natural gas supplies in order to lower heating and process costs; purchasing a 115,000/13,000 volt transformer for electrical cost savings.

Crucible Steel Company, Syracuse, New York; Specialty Steel Rod and Bar Mill
Plant Electrical Engineer: Supervised three foremen and about twenty men to maintain all the electrical equipment; and to design all new electrical equipment.  Significant items were a 
115KV electrical substation, a continuous rod and bar mill, and a 15000KVA electric arc furnace.

Maintenance Superintendent: Supervised twenty foremen and about 250 workers to maintain the equipment in this specialty rod and bar facility.  Equipment included everything from four 
electric arc furnaces to a hot blooming mill, continuous hot rod and bar mill, wire drawing machines, annealing furnaces, finishing machinery, and associated plant support equipment such 
as boilers, substations, cooling water systems, etc.
Reynolds Metals Co. McCook, Illinois, Aluminum Rolling Mill
Electrical Superintendent   Supervised 85 electricians, eight foremen, two electrical engineers, two draftsmen, and two secretaries.  Designed, installed, and maintained all plant 
electrical equipment.

Electrical Engineer   Designed and maintained all sorts of equipment for the aluminum industry, such as electrolytic reduction cell lines, rolling mill control, and power substations.

In the USA

  • Designed electrical distribution systems

  • Acted as an industrial machinery expert for an Ohio steel mill defendant being sued for non-payment and breach of contract in the purchase of eight bell annealing furnaces.  The client was successful in an out-of-court settlement, based on my deposition.
  • Acted as an industrial machinery expert for a steel fabricator plaintiff in a lawsuit involving the performance of a leveling and cut-to-length line in Wisconsin.  The adversary to my client declared bankruptcy in the face of my deposition.
  • Acted as an industrial machinery expert for an equipment manufacturer defendant in a personal injury lawsuit concerning an accident in a steel rolling mill in New York State.  The client was successful in an out-of-court settlement.  This was based on my opinion, but before deposition or trial.Finished the installation of and started up electrostatic combination powder/oil deposition equipment on a steel rolling mill in New York State.
  • Acted as an electrical expert for the plaintiff in a personal injury lawsuit where a worker was severely injured by coming in contact with 4160 volts in an electrical substation in 
  • New York State.  This was settled out of court before deposition or trial.
  • Acted as an electrical expert for the defendant electrical contractor in a personal injury suit where the plaintiff was severely injured by coming in contact with 13,800 volts.  This was settled out of court before deposition or trial.
  • Participated as an industrial machinery expert for the defendant employer in a case where a worker was injured in the winder area of an aluminum leveling and rewind line in 
  • West Virginia.  Was removed from the case when my opinion became contrary to that of the defendant’s.
  • Acted as industrial machinery expert for the plaintiff in a personal injury case that involved a worker getting injured on a paper stacking machine in New York State.  This was settled before deposition or trial.
  • Acted as an electrical expert for the plaintiff in a personal injury case that involved a worker getting injured on a piece of metal fabricating machinery in a machine shop in 
  • New York State.  I discovered the problem in the machine that proved that the worker was not at fault.
  • Involved as an electrical expert in a suit involving a customer being injured by contact with the electrical elements of a neon advertising sign in a restaurant in New York State.
  • Supervised the conduct of a test of equipment that electrostatically applied oil to cut sheets of steel being formed into automobile door panels in a large stamping plant in New York State.
  • Acted as a mechanical expert in calculating the relative positions of two automobiles involved in an accident in New York State.
  • Analyzed the operation of and recommended remediation for a steel slitting line in Dallas, Texas.
  • Did testing and experimenting of electrostatic powder application on a steel rolling mill in Columbus, Ohio.
  • Ran an experimental test of electrostatic oil application at an aluminum stamping plant in Texas
  • Acted as an industrial machinery expert for the equipment manufacturer defendant in a case where a worker got his hand injured in a rolling mill in New York.
  • Acted as a forensic expert for the insurance company defendant in an insurance claim following a motel fire.
  • Acted as an electrical and industrial machinery expert for the plaintiff in an accident that resulted in the death of the plaintiff’s husband on an electric arc furnace in a steel mill in Kentucky.  This was settled out of court after I gave a written opinion and was deposed.
  • Acted as an electrical expert for the defendant in a case against the deceased’s employer where the deceased was killed while doing maintenance on a 480 volt switchgear assembly in Buffalo, New York.  This was settled after a mediation conference with no written opinion nor deposition from me.
  • Acted as an electrical expert for the plaintiff in a case where a worker was killed by coming in contact with a 110 volt line while doing yard maintenance at a residence in New Jersey.  This case was settled successfully after I wrote an opinion.
  • Acted as an electrical expert for the defendant paper manufacturer.  The plaintiff was electrocuted when he came in contact with an improperly grounded machine part, on a paper cutting machine that had become energized, in a paper plant in New York State. I wrote an opinion.  The case was settled without any further involvement from me.
  • Acting as an industrial machinery expert for the plaintiff in a case where the plaintiff lost a leg due to an industrial accident in a steel mill in Pennsylvania.
  • Acted as an electrical expert to determine the cause of the failure of back-up power in an egg farm in New York State that caused the death of 60,000 laying hens.  This was settled by the insurance company with no written opinion nor deposition from me.Negotiated to be the expert for the plaintiff in the case of a steel mill that has been denied the tax preference of other steel mills in Indiana that do similar work and have similar equipment.  I was not engaged for this case.
  • Acted as an industrial machinery expert for the defendant furnace manufacturer in a case where a worker lost a hand while working on a molten metal furnace at an aluminum casting plant in New York State.  The client was removed from the case based on my Affidavit of Opinion.
  • Acted as an electrical expert to determine the cause of a multi-million-dollar fire in an apartment complex in New York State.
  • Acted as an industrial machinery expert for the plaintiff worker in a case where a worker was injured while operating a steel bar straightening machine in a steel mill in New York State.  This case was cancelled due to lack of evidence.
  • Acted as an electrical expert for the plaintiff worker in a case where the worker was injured in an explosion of a steel processing furnace in a steel mill in Pennsylvania.  This case was cancelled when the prospective plaintiffs were found to be defunct businesses.
  • Acted as an electrical expert to determine the cause of a transformer failure at an egg farm in New York State.  I wrote an opinion.  The client and the insurance company settled.
  • Acted as an electrical expert for the defendant electrical contractor in a case where a worker was killed on an amusement park ride in New Jersey.  The defendant electrical contractor was discharged from the case after I gave an opinion and was subsequently deposed.
  • Acted as a forensic expert to determine the cause of a house fire in New York State.  I wrote the opinion that the insurance company required.
  • Acted as an electrical expert for the plaintiff in a case where a residence in New York State got damaged by water in the basement caused by the neighbor digging a trench and cutting into the 120 volt power feed to the plaintiff’s house.  The plaintiff was successful after I testified at trial.
  • Acted as an electrical expert for the insurance company to determine the cause of a refrigeration compressor failure due to a power interruption in a food processing plant upstate New York.  The case was cancelled due to lack of correct insurance coverage.
  • Analyzed the construction bids to recommend the successful bidder for replacing a lightning-damaged 34.5KV/480V power transformer for a client egg farm in New York State.
  • Analyzed the cause of a fire and electrical short circuit in a set of 4,160 volt switchgear in a hospital in New York State.
  • Acted as an electrical expert for the defendant electrical contractor which was being sued by the customer printing company for the damage to and loss of business due to the improper wiringof a printing press after its move to a new location.
  • Negotiated to be the industrial machinery expert for the injured plaintiff in a case in Alabama where the plaintiff had his hand amputated while working on a steel tube making mill.
  • Acted as an electrical expert for the insurance company to determine that cause of the failure of a 2,500 KVA 34.5KV/480V power transformer that fed a computer chip making facility in New York State.
  • Acting as an industrial machinery expert for the injured plaintiff in a case where the plaintiff was seriously injured in a fall while cleaning a steel storage shed in a steel mill in Eastern Pennsylvania.
  • Acted as an electrical expert for a third-party defendant in a case where a worker got injured after coming in contact with a high voltage power line in rural upstate New York.
  • Acted as a forensic expert to determine the origin & cause of a house fire in New York State.  It was supposedly started in a room dehumidifier.
  • Acted as an industrial machinery expert for the defendant state taxing authority in a case where the plaintiff steel mill demanded a reduction in sales and use taxes charged on plant equipment improvements in Arkansas.  I was deposed and the case went to trial.  This case was dismissed by the judge, after three days of testimony, in favor of the state taxing authority.
  • Acted as an expert for the defendant construction company in a case where a worker received an injury to her hand while working on a leveling and cut-to-length line in a can-making facility in New York State.
  • Acted as the expert for the plaintiffs in a case where three men were badly injured (one of them died) when an electric arc furnace erupted in Pennsylvania.  The case was settled successfully after I wrote an opinion.
  • Acted as an expert for the defendant machine builder in a case where a worker was killed in a scrap crusher in a scrap steel yard in New York State.  The case did not proceed when the plaintiff did not pursue it.
  • Acted as an expert for the plaintiffs in a case where a worker in a steel mill melt shop was severely injured by an oxygen lance in a steel mill in Indiana.
  • Acted as an expert for the injured plaintiff who was injured by some falling equipment while installing electrical cables in a water treatment facility in New York State.  The case was settled successfully after I wrote an opinion.
  • Acted as an expert for a village in New York State that is suing for non-performance of new water filtration pumping equipment.
  • Acted as an expert for injured plaintiff who was injured while replacing the fan belt on a hospital roof exhaust fan in New York State.
  • Acted as an expert for the defendant general contracting Co.  The plaintiff was injured when struck by a 120 volt wire on a construction job in New York State.
  • Acted as an expert for the defendant electrical contractor who was being sued for negligence after installing electrical circuitry in a Pizza Hut restaurant in New York State.  
  • Subsequently a worker was shocked by 120 volts from an improperly grounded piece of kitchen equipment.  The case was not pursued after my opinion showed that the client was indeed at fault.
  • Acted as an expert for the plaintiff steel warehouse operation in California that was suing for a breach of contract.  The plaintiff bought a slitting machine from the defendant company that was supposed to be rated at 40,000 pounds and discovered that it was rated at 20,000 pound capacity.  The case was settled after my opinion showed that components of the machine were indeed not strong enough to be rated at the higher capacity.as an expert for the plaintiff in a case where an electric arc furnace erupted in Pennsylvania severely injuring a worker. 
  • Acted as an expert to testify to a New Jersey Zoning Board that the location of a new substation was against the better good of the community.
  • Acted as the expert for in a patent infringement claim concerning electrical controls from a company in Florida against the Texas-based defendant.
  • Acting as an expert for the plaintiff in a case where a worker lost some fingers while working o a press brake in Buffalo, New York.
  • Acting as an expert for the defendant school district in a case where a maintenance person was injured by a natural gas explosion when the cover at the base of an outdoor light fixture was opened for inspection in New York State.
  • Acting as an expert for the plaintiff who lost a forearm in a pasta machine in New York State.
  • Acted as an expert for the plaintiff who was severely injured while working on a continuous galvanizing line at a steel mill in Indiana.
  • Acting as an expert for the plaintiff who lost part of her thumb while operating a check printing machine in New York State.
  • Acted as an expert for the defendant machine manufacturer after a fire in a pallet fabricating installation in Ontario, Canada.
  • Acted as an expert for the defendant maintenance contractor after a worker got injured in a blast furnace shop in Indiana.
  • Acted as an expert for the plaintiff employee’s estate after he was killed when an explosion occurred in a vacuum electron beam titanium melting furnace in Pennsylvania.
  • Acted as an expert for the plaintiff worker from an outside contractor who was injured while doing cleaning on the exit transfer table on a steel rolling mill in Ohio.
  • Acting as an expert for the plaintiff employee who lost some fingers while cleaning a printing press in New York State.
  • Acted as an expert for the defendant electrical equipment supplier that is being sued for supplying unsafe and inadequate 27 KV circuit breakers in New York State.
  • Acting as an expert for the plaintiff who was shocked, burned, and seriously injured from a fall from a roof when a piece of roofing material he was holding came in contact with a high voltage electrical line in New Jersey.
  • Acted as an expert for the plaintiff government agency (OSHA) to enforce claims and abatement after two electric arc furnace explosions in Pennsylvania caused personal injuries.

  • Acted as agent for a Japanese client to select a used slitting line in the US to be located in Mexico City
  • Assessed the operation of an annealing department in a steel mill in Monterrey.
  • Installed a demonstration electrostatic powder application machine in a steel mill in Monterrey.

  • Investigated the influence that annealing furnaces and their atmospheres had on steel surface quality.
