Main research interests include the early identification of the embryo/fetus with a chromosomal abnormality. Primary goal is the assessment and evaluation of ultrasound and various serum markers, alone or in combination to maximize diagnostic sensitivity and specificity while optimizing cost efficiency.
Additional research interest involves the relationship of periodontal disease to preterm birth utilizing historical factors, ultrasound assessment of cervical length and specific markers of inflammation including fetal fibronectin, oral fibronectin, salivary estriol, and micobiological culture. A preliminary letter requesting grant funding has been submitted to the March of Dimes and a formal application for multi-year funding will be submitted as soon as possible.
