Bariatric Gastric Surgery Expert Witness

Expert 2860 is an experienced bariatric surgeon who has performed major obesity surgery, including revisional surgery from referring surgeons, since 1984. He has performed over 2,000 major obesity surgery operations including vertical banded gastroplasty and Roux-en-y gastric bypass, including revision of these and other procedures. For several years he was the only surgeon in bariatric surgery practice in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach. He has been a Member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery (now American Society forMetabolic and Bariatric Surgery) since 1986, almost since its inception, and has been a member of several Society committees, including the Surgical Access Committee and the Public and Professional Committee. He is Certified by the American Board of Abdominal Surgery. Expert 2860 has a background of extensive general surgery training and experience, having attained Fellowship in the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1957, after training at Kings College Hospital, London England. He received training in bariatric surgery from, amongst others, the eminent Dr. Edward Mason, regarded as the "father" of obesity surgery. His training has been supplemented by attendance at virtually every annual meeting of the ASMBS, together with attendance at numerous post-graduate training courses in bariatric and laparoscopic surgery.
