Summary:

Expert 1213 consults on optical sensing, display & control, sensors, signal processing (digital & analog), optical devices, optical & electronic instruments, optical systems, science and technology and intellectual property disputes. The company provides a full range of services including consulting on intellectual property disputes, contract development, feasibility, turn-key systems, system integration, computer control and software as well as technical planning, project reviews, troubleshooting and related services.  In-house resources include digital data acquisition; computer output to sensors, display, electronics, and control; digital/optical signal processing, recognition; software, and proprietary systems and programs for hardware and software development.

Examples of Optical Sensing, Display and Control projects include:

•                  Developed detection & identification techniques for DNA, immuno-assays, hepatitis, etc.

•                  Gauge wall thickness, ovality & eccentricity and detect 1-mil defects in continuous, extruding coating on leads for cardiac pacing devices.  Designed optical and electronic systems for real-time sensing; analog & digital signal processing; real-time initiation of control signals; documentation & filing system.  Won the annual award of Medtronic, a Fortune 500 corporation.

•                  Designed, developed, and led fabrication & testing of laser communication system..

•                  Provided signal detection and processing remedy for false identifications of automated microfiche retrieval & display system.   Led upgrade project that introduced new display and microprocessor control of sensing & display modules. US Patent assigned to IRSC (Information Retrieval Systems Corp.).

•         Developed image processing methods to detect sub-mil and sub-micron defects in photo masks and wafers used in IC manufacturing.  Optical spatial filtering is used to detect and recognize defects (holes and excess metal) but that removes circuit information before the light reaches the camera.  Patents issued, assigned to Bell Laboratories and Perkin Elmer.

•         Consulted on laser pods, for F-18 jet planes, to target and guide Smart ordnance.  Improved performance of new-generation Advanced Targeting Pod - Sniper XR for USAF (Lockheed-Martin)

•                  Troubleshot on design and production of LCD and LED displays for Timex.

In-house resources include computer-based vision systems and data acquisition systems, SMART OPTICSSM, sensors, electronics, lasers, fiber optics, software for testing, control, analysis and design.

SMART OPTICSSM is a proprietary Expert 1213 Associates system that modifies the optical signal before the light reaches an electronic camera or photo detector, before signal processing and before rejection decisions. It exploits optical variations arising from changes in materials, structure and processing to enhance signal-to-noise or optical contrast. It eliminates background images & produces signals from critical features only. This improves reliability and simplifies software and hardware.

ROBUST SYSTEMSM is a proprietary Expert 1213 Associates program for hardware and software development.

The ROBUST SYSTEMSM methodology automatically compensates for acceptable product and system changes during operation. It monitors, modifies & upgrades performance. It bullet-proofs the system.
