Extension Responsibilities focus on livestock production economics, farm management, and whole farm business planning.
Major programs include detailed enterprise analysis for livestock producers, the economics of grazing land management, and factors
that impact economic outcomes and economic risks of livestock systems.
Recent emphasis has been part of a team developing and delivering an intensive farm management education program (MAST) via a
combination of on campus and distance delivery.
Research interests are also focused on livestock production economics and farm management, as well as on livestock marketing issues.
Current projects are supporting extension program areas.
Teaching responsibilities include teaching a senior farm management strategies class, guest lecturing for classes both within the
department and across campus, and advising graduate students.

In addition, worked on several projects involving the lamb-marketing sector (Price dynamics, Yield Grade Valuation, etc) and contributed
to research efforts, which analyzed factors affecting the demand for meats.
Worked with Wayne Purcell to develop effective teaching skills.

Completed research investigating the impact of structural changes in the fed cattle industry.
Focus of the project was to determine the impact of captive supplies on cash live cattle prices, as well as identification of quality
factors that affect prices.
Responsibilities included extensive data collection, specification of models, and application of models to the data.
Prepared label assignments, presented assignment results, assisted students, graded assignments, and developed computer decision making
aids for Farm and Ranch Management class.

Operated diversified crop and livestock farm involving over 1400 acres near Langdon, in South Central Kansas.
Also operated custom farm services business involving planting, harvesting livestock care, and construction work.
Supervised 2-4 employees during busy seasons.
Worked on a diversified crop and livestock farm in Stafford County.
Assisted with irrigated and dry land crops, as well as the cattle operation.

From January, 1995 to December, 2003 developed and delivered over 460 extension presentations at the county, area, state, and multi-state
level.
Topics include enterprise analysis and record keeping for livestock producers, basic farm management fundamentals and farm business
planning, understanding economic risks in agricultural production, CRP contract decision making, economically implementing grazing land
water quality protection plans and livestock marketing.
Recent emphasis has been on the development and delivery of intensive farm management information via a combination of face-to-face and
distance delivery methods, as well as on web-based delivery of information and decision tools.
