Developed a transportation system consisting of a combination of proprietary computer based software and innovative approach to shipping techniques. Instituted an innovative "profit center" concept This position was created by and reported to the President of the $50 million U.S. subsidiary of a $1 billion French steel manufacturer. A $200 million division of the multi-billion dollar conglomerate. The division created this position, reporting to the Director of Distribution, to solve the poor service and long lead time problems it was having. We cut lead time in half by dealing directly with the vendors, reorganized the department into two cohesive groups, and lowered expenses while expanding the efficiency of the staff. By coordinating communication between the Southeast Asia vendor, the steamship line, and the Customs House Broker, we cut 5 days from the transit time and eliminated $2500 in costs for every shipment.

Directed order processing and fulfillment personnel in 3 domestic and 2 foreign locations. Established duty rates and processed directly with customs agents in 60 countries. Implemented import and export procedures to move components and finished goods in both directions. Instituted Key Performance Indicators which allowed us to cut 20% off our annual freight budget of $7 million in the second year. Liaison with U.S. Department of Commerce Licensing Division.
