EXAMPLES OF RECENT CONSULTING/EXPERT WITNESS EXPERIENCE

Investigation, analysis, documentation of conclusions, and deposition in cases of electrical or electronic failure of several consumer electrical and electronic devices, including kitchen appliances, automatic gate and door openers, and electronic keyboards

Analysis and testing to establish failure mechanism of medical and dental instruments, followed by supporting court testimony

Forensic investigation and evaluation, followed by deposition, of injury caused by a remotely triggered explosive signaling system used in anti-terrorist training exercises

Investigation, evaluation, and deposition involving brake/suspension interactions on a late model sports car

Forensic investigation and report regarding the circumstances leading to the electrocution of an untrained individual attempting to perform an at-home repair of an electrical household appliance

Investigation and report of the causes of an explosive failure of an industrial heating device, used for cleaning machine parts.

Evaluation of supplier inventory delivered at contract termination, independent determination of fair pricing, and supporting testimony before a Federal three-judge panel comprising the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Expert 1802 has had extensive experience in various aspects of electrical, electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical system and device analysis and engineering design. During the greater part of Expert 1802 career worked at Hughes Aircraft Company on advanced, state-of-the-art, high performance missile and spacecraft systems in positions from design engineer through engineering department manager and chief scientist. Responsibilities covered the entire spectrum from detailed component, subsystem, and system design to the management of a major engineering organization. During this time, also taught courses in electrical engineering and automatic control systems at the University of Southern California. Presented invitational papers at a NATO Conference in London, England, and was invited by the Government of the Republic of China to lecture on modern electrical engineering at the Chung Shan Institute of Science and Technology in Taiwan.

After the acquisition of Hughes Aircraft Company by General Motors, Expert Witness No. 1802 assumed the responsibility for the analysis, design, and program management of automotive control systems. This activity included the development and evaluation of control approaches and algorithms for active suspensions and antilock brake systems, including simulation and evaluation of performance, diagnostics, and component failure mode effects. After exposure to and involvement in such a broad range of technical disciplines from missile and spacecraft development at Hughes Aircraft Company to advanced automotive system concepts at GM Hughes Electronics, Expert Witness No. 1802 established an independent technical consulting practice. The wide variety of technical consultation provided in recent years was illustrated on the preceding page. At the present time, in addition to consulting activities, is also teaching Electrical Engineering Technology at Lakeland Community College to First Energy Utility employees and other engineering career oriented students.
