EXPERIENCE

1999-ASSISTANT PROFESSOR University of Utah, Department of Communication Disorders, Salt Lake City, UT Teaching responsibilities include four courses per academic year, three of these courses are related to speech production (Phonetics, Anatomy & Physiology of the Speaking Mechanism, and Fluency Disorders) and one to brain damage (Cognitive-Communication Disorders). Research activities include investigating normal and disordered aspects of human speech and voice, multidimensional factors involved in measuring stuttering severity, acoustically derived kinematic measures of speech production in stuttering and nonstuttering speakers, and functional neuro-imaging of speech production processes utilizing fMRI, MEG, and ERPs. Clinical responsibilities include directing and supervising an intensive two-week stuttering clinic every summer.

1996-Consulting Speech-Language Pathologist Owner / Operator Forensic speech and voice consulting (voice identification/comparison, recording enhancement, certified transcripts, etc.), expert witness services, and speech-language therapy services to adults and children Individual referrals and contract-based services to lawyers, law enforcement agencies, corporations, home health agencies, rehabilitation centers, and hospitals.

1995 - 1997 SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST Hartford Hospital Hartford, CT. Half-time position provided full range of diagnostic and therapy services in an interdisciplinary acute-care environment. Hartford Hospital is a nationally recognized 1050 bed tertiary care center. Disorder areas included stroke, traumatic brain injury, oncology, voice, trached and ventilator dependent patients, and dysphagia with extensive videofluoroscopic imaging experience.

1994 - 1995 SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST, Director of Outpatient Communication Disorders New England Rehabilitation Hospital, Portland, ME provided full range of out- and in-patient speech-language services to adult populations experiencing neurologically based communication disorders Program development including a specialized intensive fluency program and an interdisciplinary young stroke rehabilitation program Expanded and managed services to four contract sites.

1992 - 1994 SENIOR SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST British Columbia Ministry of Health, Vanderhoof, British Columbia Provided clinical speech and language services to preschool children and adults at the Speech-Language Clinic in the Northern Interior Health Unit. Direct and consultative speech-language services to seven schools within S.D. # 56. Responsible for project management, training of other professionals, presentations and courses, liaison with other agencies and services on case management matters.
