SUMMARY OF ACHIEVEMENTS AND PROFESSIONAL GOALS

I have over 37 years of experience as a general dentist. I am accomplished in all phases of general dentistry, with a special interest in the differential diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders and chronic facial pain. I am also extremely proficient in oral surgery. I am a published author of several text books and respected peer reviewed journal articles. My experience includes both clinical and administrative skills. While in the U.S. Army, I was assigned clinical and administrative leadership responsibilities. I also developed a disciplined approach in managing my patients productively and efficiently.  This CV describes my achievements and professional experience in detail.

My professional goals are to treat every patient in a respectful, compassionate and caring manner, listen to them intently, address their concerns, ease their anxiety, and maximize my production without compromising the quality care that I provide.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

March 1974 – December 1976: Associate in the private dental practice of Jesse Lev, D.D.S. in Brooklyn, New York. Practiced all aspects of General Dentistry with the utilization of conscious sedation and general anesthesia.

January 1977 to March 2004: Conducted a private practice in general dentistry with a heavy emphasis on the diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders and facial pain.

1977-1984: National Dental Consultants LTD. Islip, New York. Appointed Chief TMJ Consultant. Performed clinical examinations on patients injured in motor vehicle accidents. Reviewed insurance claims for 65 insurance companies to determine their validity, and was authorized to suggest payment or denial of claims. Entered into an agreement with National Dental Consultants LTD. To conduct lectures and seminars on the diagnosis and treatment of  temporomandibular joint disorders to members of the health and casualty insurance industry and their attorneys, and to testify as an expert witness in arbitrations and litigations regarding these claims.

1981: Served as a consultant to the American Dental Association Council on Dental Care Programs.

1981-1983: Served as team dentist for the New York Arrows professional soccer team, and consultant to the team’s Sports Medicine Department.

1983-1988: Served as Regional Editor to the Journal of Craniomandibular Practice.

1998: Commissioned as a Dental Officer in the United States Army Reserve.

September 2003 – February 2004: Deployed to Bosnia by the United States Army on Active Duty to serve as a Dental Officer. Provided dental clinical services to U.S. soldiers, as well as soldiers of participating NATO nations, United States Embassy personnel, and government contract civilians. Conducted numerous MEDCAP missions to remote areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina and provided dental treatment to Bosnian and Serbian civilians in need of emergency dental care. Nominated for the Meritorious Service Medal.

July 2004: Promoted to the rank of Major in the United States Army Reserve Dental Corps.

March 2004 – August 2004: Performed all phases of general dentistry in the dental office of Dr. Miles Carter in Suffolk County New York.

September 2004 – June 2005: Deployed to Fort Dix, NJ by the United States Army to serve on Active Duty as a Dental Officer. Provided dental support in the Mills Dental Clinic and the Soldier Readiness Center (SRC). Performed complex dental restorative and oral surgical procedures on troops who have been classified as non-deployable in order to prepare them for mobilization. Will serve as the Dental OIC at the Soldier Readiness Center (SRC) starting in January 2005.

June 6, 2005 – June 30, 2009: Entered the Active Duty Army as a Dental Officer stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. Appointed Assistant OIC (Officer In Charge) of the Davis Dental Clinic. Perform all phases of general dentistry, and serve as the Radiation Protection Officer. Treat all patients in the DENTAC (which includes 5 dental clinics and WOMAC Army Medical Center) with temporomandibular joint disorders and facial pain.

December 2007: Appointed Project Manager for the renovation of the Davis Dental Clinic at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Was given a budget of $1.7 million to bid on and purchase new “state of the art” equipment for the facility. Was also responsible for the successful completion of the project.

July 2009: Retired from Active Duty in the U.S. Army Dental corps.
July 2009 to July 2010: Conducted Independent Medical Examinations to establish causal relationships between motor vehicle accidents and claimants chief complaints.
July 2010 to Present: Appointed staff dentist at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, NY.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

1981: Conducted 13 two day postgraduate TMJ seminars throughout the United States for Long Island University.
1981 to Present: Conducted over 450 two day postgraduate clinical seminars (approved for CE credits by the AGD) on the diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders and facial pain throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico for various continuing education organizations.

Invited to present a scientific paper on Transcranial Grid Radiography of the Temporomandibular Joint at the Biennial International Symposium of the American Equilibration Society in Chicago, Illinois.
