1975 – present, Engineering Consultant in private practice with attorneys and insurance adjusters.  Litigation-related practice includes plaintiff and defense clients in approximately equal numbers.  Included are numerous depositions and trial appearances.

1993 – 2001, Chief Metallurgist, KMT Inc., California, Manager of a development group focused on key new products, Developed cleaning processes for computer memory disks, Organized worldwide failure analysis for company, Participant in company’s effort to diversify into the area of fiber optics.

1988 – 1993, Senior Thin Film Project Engineer, Deposition Sciences Inc., California.  Developed unique methods of uniformly coating curved surfaces with hard materials from oxides, and nitrides.  Developed patented DC reactive sputtering techniques for depositing optical quality oxides, and multi-layer optical films on oxide substrates.  Optical Thin Film Design:  Photo-pattering of Thin Film Circuits and Optical IR Filters

1984 – 1988, Thin Film Circuit Engineer and Reliability Engineer, MTI, California. Responsible for group developing thin film circuit manufacturing processes including Reactive sputtering, reactive ion etching, photo processing, and wafer dicing.  Concurrently responsible for group performing high reliability testing and failure analysis of GaAs, FET’S, and IC’s.  Purchased a CPA 9900 and developed a production reactive sputtering process for Coating Ta2N/TiW/Au onto A1203 substrates.  Developed unique techniques for producing conductive via thin film circuits.  Project Manager for high reliability projects; coordinated all high reliability projects at MTI; this included interfacing with the customers.

1975 – 1984, Project Engineer and Project Manager, Hewlett Packard Co., California.  Hands-on manager of a Research and Development group that designed and developed hybrid packaging for microwave circuits.  Designed RF connectors for microwave communication applications.  Acted as a consultant to several Hewlett-Packard divisions aiding in the solutions of problems related to materials, machining, device failure, and bonding and assembly.  Developed a close die molding process for forming super plastic zinc.  Coordinated several company wide workshops related to metal working and hybrid Assembly processing.  This included plastic packaging.

1974 – 1975, Senior Project Engineer, OptiCalifornial Coating Laboratories Inc., California.  Responsible for yield improvement on a process for the manufacture of striped Diachroic filters.  Successfully raised the yields from 2 per cent to 70 per cent.  Included grinding and polishing of the glass faceplates.  Represented OCLI to their customers to solve various metal corrosion problems with single crystal Si solar cells.  Corporate materials scientist responsible for failure analysis and surface analysis.

1972 – 1974, Senior Process Engineer, Corning Glass Works, New York. Included glass finishing process development and glass failure analysis.  Senior Research and Development engineer involved with the development of glass.  Finishing processes and the design of the related production equipment.  Involved with sheet glass quality evaluation and glass failure analysis.

1969 – 1972, Engineering Consultant, Failure Analysis Association, California.  Aided engineers with failure analysis of materials.  Aided engineers with failure analysis of materials such as metals, fabrics, plastics, and ceramics.
