Experience

1997 – Present, Co-Founder and R&D manager, EMW Inc., Montreal, Canada
Responsible for the development of EMW software suite of numerical electromagnetic simulation tools.  These tools include: ATLASS (Advanced Transmission Line Analysis and Synthesis): a design support tool for microwave and high-speed digital circuit design applications. CosmosEMS (Electro Mechanical Simulator): a finite-element-based simulation package for low frequency applications.  The package includes modules for the modeling and analysis of arbitrary 3D components in the electrostatic, magneto static and transient regimes with linear and nonlinear materials. HFWorks (High Frequency suite): a finite-element-based simulation package for high frequency applications.  The package includes fours modules S-parameter calculation for arbitrary RF/Microwave circuits, computation of resonance frequencies and modes in arbitrary cavities and resonant structures, computation of antenna parameters for arbitrary radiating structures, computation of Radar Cross Section (RCS) or 3-dimensional objects.

1993 – 1997, Researcher at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, University of Montreal, Montreal, Canada.
Worked on the modeling and simulation of catheters used for cardiac ablation using microwave signals.  Co-supervised a Ph.D. Student working on this topic.

1991 – 1993, Post-doctoral fellow, L’Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, Montreal, Canada.
Worked on the modeling and simulation of active, semi-conductor devices, and passive microwave circuits and components using the Finite Element Method.

1990 – 1991, Research Scientist at GE Corporate Research and Development, General Electric Corporate Research and Development, Schenectady, New York, USA.
Developed a Finite Element-based software program for the computation of the radar cross-section (RCS) of engines sold by the General Electric Corporation.  The work also included the investigation of techniques for making low observable radar targets.

1987 – 1989, Research Assistant at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, USA.
Developed one of the first techniques used for Finite Element mesh truncation for electromagnetic analysis known as Absorbing Boundary Condition (ABC).  Developed ABCs for both antenna/radar and high speed digital circuits applications.

1988 – 1989, Teaching Assistant at the College of Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, USA.

1986 – 1987, Research Assistant at the Research Center for the Engineering of Electronic Materials, The Pennsylvania State University, State College, Pennsylvania, USA.
Worked on determining the effective electromagnetic properties of Chiral (optically active) composite materials for microwave applications.

1985 – 1986, Teaching Assistant at the Department of Engineering Science, The Pennsylvania State University, State College, Pennsylvania, USA.
