Savage Arms is a rifle, shotgun and bullet trap manufacturer in business since 1894.

  • Designed numerous products and product revisions, in some instances leading to patents on firearms systems.
  • Managed design projects from concept through design, tooling and release to manufacturing.
  • Routinely provide detailed technical information to assist Firearms Examiners (CSI) around the world and periodically taught Armorers courses I have written on Savage products.
  • Developed standard operating procedures for Engineering Functions covering CAD drawing standards, Engineering Specifications, Process and Material Specifications, Product testing protocols, Bills of Materials and routings.
  • Developed owner’s manuals, parts lists and service kits for current and obsolete products.
  • Provided certification to Firearms Examiners for completing the Savage Arms “Firearms Examiners Process Review” (a course of study I wrote).

Project leader for the conversion of manufacturing of components to embrace modern processes including Investment Casting (IC), sintered metal (PM) and metal injection molding
(MIM).  I am involved with injection molded components including gunstock design. I also am very involved in the manufacture of wood gunstocks and the various processes required.

Supported Purchasing/Materials with technical expertise on domestic and off-shore procurement.

Developed relationships with and/or visited component and firearms manufacturers in Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Finland, Japan, Korea, Spain, Italy and China. I had recently evaluated products from Italy, China, and Turkey.

Managed Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Final Inspection and Customer Service, often several of the preceding at the same time.

Demonstrated products at AFTE Training Seminars, Blackwater Training Facility and FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center).

I have been a guest lecturer for a beginning Forensics class at Mount Holyoke College in Hadley, MA and am planning for two classes this fall.

I have multiple open liability cases that I am providing technical expertise and/or testing and firearm examinations for.  Many of these cases require reconstruction of the incident and development of a test regimen to replicate the incident. Some have involved the construction of complex test apparatus to duplicate the incident claims.

I have worked for both  Manufacturers and  parties involved in litigation. In all cases the provable facts are all that matter and I have been released from cases where I could/would not support an invalid claim.
