1984 – Present     Private Company, Houston, TX (Owner). Provide expert/technical services.
Marine Consulting Services, Inc., Houston, TX. Provide marine surveying services.

1983 – 1987     Texas A&M University, Galveston, TX (Assistant Professor of Marine Transportation and Navigation Training Officer). Delivered classroom and lab teaching services, license prep    instruction, curriculum development services; served as Deck Officer aboard training ship.

1980 – 1983     U.S. Navy Military Sealift Command Southeast Asia (Executive Officer and Operations Officer).  Managed charters and contracts and the inspection, documentation, operations, maintenance, repair, and manning of chartered merchant ships. Managed staff work of 56 military, U.S. civilian, and Philippine National personnel. Performed major ship inspections and casualty investigations.  Performed liaison functions with regulatory agencies (ABS, U.S. Coast Guard). Served as Marine    Casualty Investigator and Cargo Damage/Loss Inspector.

1977 – 1980     Krupp International, Houston, TX (Marine Sales Manager). Held total sales responsibility for U.S. Gulf and West Coasts for marine electronic navigation systems.

1975 – 1977     Waukesha-Pearce Industries, Houston, TX (Marine Representative). Performed industrial marine    sales engineering of diesel propulsion engines and generator sets to the offshore and maritime industries.

1970 – 1975     Sperry Rand Corporation, New Orleans, LA and Houston, TX (Marketing Representative).  Performed industrial marine sales of major integrated electronic/hydraulic shipboard systems.  Directed all Texas sales and field engineering work from 1973 to 1975.

1969 – 1970     Shell Oil Company, Offshore Division, Metairie, LA (Transportation Representative). Managed and coordinated marine transportation operations in support of offshore drilling activities. Supervised safety/regulatory/equipment aspects of three seismic research vessels.

1967 – 1969     U.S. Navy, Military Sea Transportation Service-Pacific, Oakland, CA (Navigator and Cargo Officer).  Served aboard several cargo/auxiliary ships. Deployed in Viet Nam Sealift operations. Served collaterally as Deck Safety Officer and Cargo Loss Inspection Officer.

1966 – 1967     Standard Oil Company, San Francisco, CA (Third Mate). Served aboard several tankers in coastwise trade as a Deck Officer in charge of navigation, piloting, cargo loading and discharging, mooring, seamanship, deck safety, and fire-fighting/life-saving gear.

MILITARY SERVICE

Lieutenant Commander, U.S. Naval Reserve (Retired). Served from 1966 to 1989 in numerous operational and staff  billets, including active duty. Received formal classroom training in casualty investigations/reporting, hazardous materials (HAZMAT) regulations/handling/transportation, vessel documentation, and marine surveying.
