Plaintiff

  • EMS responded to a drowning in city pool, did not bring equipment, cardiac arrest young child.
  • Patient dropped down stairs
  • Vehicle operation rear end collision caused by ambulance responding emergency for blood delivery.
  • Interfacilty transfer of pregnant patient, delivers during transfer, inappropriate transfers –
  • Patient transport delay to appropriate hospital for fluid on the brain, shunt blocked
  • Asthmatic child multiple transfers, medication error, delayed care, cardiac arrest
  • Patient was dropped causing injured shoulder
  • Patient assaulted in back of ambulance by paramedic.
  • Cardiac arrest, delayed response due to slow turn out time and getting lost, medication error, no compression for up to 4 minutes
     

Defense

  • Vehicle operation involving the interstate where ambulance was hit from behind injuring off duty EMT. Injured party severely injured seeking large settlement
  • Wrongful termination of firefighter by City of Miami Fire Department.
  • Patient transported from Gainesville to Jacksonville by non-EMS/non medically trained transport agency. Patient died during transport to Jacksonville
  • Transported to hospital without assessment patient had MI 4 hours later

St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue Department – (1982 – 2012)
Station Captain. Responsibilities included but not limited to the overall coordination of fire station duties. The position requires incident command capabilities for on scene responses, vehicle inspection, training of personal, and budget.

Coordinator of the Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS) for St. Petersburg, Pinellas County Florida and the Federal Government.  The Metropolitan Medical Response System  program assists highly populated jurisdictions (124 through FY 2003) to develop plans, conduct training and exercises, and acquire pharmaceuticals and personal protective equipment, to achieve the enhanced capability necessary to respond to a mass casualty event. (2000 – 2012)

Previous assignment Rescue Lieutenant. – (1990 – 2002) Responsibilities include the overall supervision of 25 paramedics, 75 EMTs with the direct supervision of 13 ALS units responding to over 125 calls per shift.

Previous assignment Assistant EMS Coordinator. Responsibilities
include over seeing day-to-day operations of the EMS division.
Averaging 35,000 calls per year. In addition, handling the continuing
Education for 80 paramedics and 125 EMTs, budget, vehicle specifications and program development. (1988 – 1990)
