Expert’s paving career started back in 1980 with expert as a laborer on the paving crew. Expert paving started in 1961 and was the leader in quality asphalt production and placement in the surrounding area.
1980 to 1983 – Was laborer and equipment operator on a paving crew with Expert Paving. Equipment operated included, but not limited to, asphalt rollers and compactors, paving machines, backhoes and dump trucks.
1984 to 1989 – Foreman of paving crew for Expert Paving and was in charge of the assessment, placement and completion of many different types of paving projects ranging from driveways and parking lots to streets and highways.
1989 to 1994 – Left Expert Paving in March of 1989 to help with the launch of a new paving company in East Earl, PA. The new paving company was Lyons & Hohl Paving and my responsibilities as a crew foreman primarily included the training and development of the crew members along with project management.
1995 to 2001 – Estimating and operations manager were just a few of my titles. As an estimator, I would meet with customers, review plans and submit bids to acquire paving projects. I would develop and maintain relationships with material suppliers and asphalt producers to ensure that we were getting the best possible price to pass on to our customers. As operations manager, I would oversee the company day to day operations. Scheduling, personnel, equipment and materials for each job.
2002 to 2007 – In 2002 I became the general manager for Lyons & Hohl Paving. Customer satisfaction and service were a high priority and was at the top of my day to day agenda. Problem recognition and resolutions for clients became one of my fortes.
2007 – Started Asphalt Consultants.
Over the past 30 years I have been exposed to many different types of situations and problems that are encountered within the asphalt paving industry. My experience and knowledge attained, have propelled me to an expert within this field. I receive calls from past customers, engineers and inspectors seeking advice on paving projects that I am not currently involved with, yet they still request my assistance. They feel comfortable with my opinions and problem solving abilities that can only be attained through years of experience. I provide spec designs that match their demands for traffic loads. I design preventative maintenance programs and project oversight that keeps their costs in check with their long-term goals. Exceptional value is attained by my commitment to the client. I have no hidden agenda. I am not trying to sell my customers materials or advice that isn’t backed by personal familiarity and understanding. By keeping their best interests as my primary focus they can feel confident that they will receive the quality and value that they deserve.
