I was fortunate to have received an outstanding college education from Union College where I was honored to be Class Valedictorian and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi Honorary Societies. I was equally fortunate to graduate from the University of Rochester School of Medicine with a solid basic foundation in Medicine.
For the majority of my pediatric career, I have been an academic pediatrician. I have published over twenty papers in peer reviewed journals (New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Pediatrics etc). I have also written a number of chapters in respected Pediatric textbooks (Rudolph’s Pediatrics).
While in the Army, I was a Pediatric Program Director for 15 years, training 59 individuals who became Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
I have received teaching awards including Best Intern Teacher of the Year at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (1979) and Best Resident Teacher at Children’s Hospital Central California (2000).
I have delivered hundreds of lectures on many pediatric subjects over the years, especially in the area of Pediatric Infectious Disease and Child Abuse. I have listed the most recent lectures in a Grand Rounds setting (below).
For the last five years of my career I focused exclusively on Child Abuse and received Board Certification the first time it was offered in 2010.
I would be happy to provide additional specific publications and lectures upon request.
I am currently licensed to practice medicine in the State of California.
My professional activities since retirement in 2009 have been solely consultative which includes staying current in the field, attending selective conferences, staying active in the Cornell Child Abuse on-line list serve, maintaining my current license and Board Certification and appearing in various civil and criminal court jurisdictions representing both prosecution and defense.
