Qualifications

Admitted to practice law in California (1992) and Indiana (1995), & before state and federal courts in both states, including the U.S. Supreme Court. Over 15 years’ tenure in various civil law areas, of which the last six years and more have consisted of a solo practice involving:

Probate representation of petitioners/personal representatives and contestants;

Reviewing and drafting over 200 wills and trusts;

Advising on and drafting integrated estate plans for modest to multi-million dollar estates, including advise and draft: comprehensive trust plans, including health care directives/powers of attorney for health care and powers of attorney for financial management; formation and management of family LPs and LLCs, including deed work and other funding issues; integrating business succession planning into estate plan; charitable remainder trusts and other irrevocable trusts, including third-party SNTs (special needs trusts) and ILITs (Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts); advise parties on medical decision making issues;

Funding of trusts with real property and other assets, and advising trustees and personal representatives regarding management and investment of assets and accounting and reporting duties;

Representing survivors, administrators, heirs, beneficiaries, and trustees in trust administration and probate and nonprobate estate administration and disputes;

Advising on business transactions involving all types of contracts (promissory notes, secured and unsecured, employment contracts,); advise on and draft and file documents regarding entity formation, buy-sell agreements and sale-purchase agreements of professional services and retail establishments, including medical and dental practices, chiropractic practices, restaurants, and print/copy shops; and advising nonprofit organizations, including drafting and filing articles and formation; advise, compile and manage application for nonprofit status; advise on fundraising and governance issues overall.
