Employment History

1991 – present Private Practice. Founder and Medical Director, California Institute of Behavioral Sciences (CIBS) Palo Alto, CA. Involved in the evaluation and treatment of children, adolescents, adults with various neuro-psychiatric and behavioral conditions (including geriatric population).

1992 – 1993 Associate Medical Director, Comprehensive Pediatric Care Unit (formerly the Roth Psychosomatic Unit) at Lucile Salter Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. Responsible for the day to day functioning of the ward, attending duties on hospitalized patients with various emotional problems, liaison to nursing administration, screening of admissions and backup call.

Director, Pediatric Mood and Anxiety Disorders Clinic at Stanford. Started the above clinic, which provided evaluations and treatment for children & adolescents with mood anxiety disorders.

1990 – 1991 Worked on acute inpatient adult psychiatry units at the University and V.A. hospitals at the University of Michigan Medical Center, Ann Arbor. Also worked at adult psychiatric outpatient clinic and emergency room, neurology inpatient and substance abuse units. Was also involved in teaching medical students.

1989 – 1990 Worked on the Psychiatry Consultation Liaison Team. Was involved in the psychiatric evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents at Mott Children’s Hospital at University of Michigan Medical Center, Ann Arbor, MI. In the outpatient program was involved in the evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with a multitude of emotional, psychiatric and neurological problems.

1989 Involved in the evaluation and treatment of children 12 to 18 years old, with a multitude of emotional and psychiatric problems, e.g., depression, psychosis, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, family problems, conduct disorders, personality disorders, schizoaffective disorders, manic depressive disorders, etc., and provided individual psychotherapy, family therapy, group therapy, and psychopharmacological interventions. Conducted “safe groups” for physically, emotionally and sexually abused adolescents. Also, worked at the Children’s Diagnostic and Research Unit. Involved in the evaluation and treatment of children 3 to 12 years old, with a multitude of emotional disorders, e.g., oppositional defiant disorder, depression, attention deficit hyperactive disorder, psychotic disorders, mental retardation and other mixed diagnosis. Also worked in the outpatient department. Responsibilities included evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with various emotional and behavioral problems.
