Biography

Expert is a Board Certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist (Physiatrist) with extensive clinical experience in the management and treatment of traumatic brain injury, anoxic brain injury, stroke, movement disorders and general rehabilitation.  He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois completing his internship at Norwalk Hospital, Yale University Medical Center and his residency at Boston University Medical Center.  As medical director of a renowned Brain Injury Medicine and Rehabilitation program at a Chicago rehabilitation institute, he developed both inpatient and outpatient seamless patient care programs.  He has also worked as a Neuro-rehabilitation specialist at another rehabilitation hospital in Illinois.

Expert has done research in the field of brain injury medicine and has numerous journal publications.  In addition, he has lectured nationally and internationally (Argentina, Sweden, and Slovenia) on numerous topics dealing with medical management, patient advocacy, facility planning and educational development.  As a recognized expert he contributed to and extensively participated in the development of some educational kits published by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). He has years of experience in risk management and medical/legal fields.  Amongst others, his medical legal work includes having been consulted in the Terry Schiavo and Firestone tire cases.

In addition to his medical education Expert  also holds a Masters of Science degree in Urban Planning, Public Management and Policy Analysis.  This gives him the unique perspective in the field of Americans with Disability Act (ADA) design and universal architecture.  His innovative patient floor design and inpatient and outpatient brain injury programs were featured in a nine-page Chicago Tribune article and a Chicago Tribune Magazine article.  He has appeared on Telemundo, Univision and the Discovery channel.  Currently he is working on a fully accessible ADA/universal international inclusion center for a medical center in Illinois.

Presented 3 hour lecture entitled Brain Injury Medicine: Acute Care, Rehabilitation & Research .
