Expert No. 1120 is the senior toxicologist and environmental scientist at an Environmental Enterprise Co., CA); lead scientist for an Environmental Enterprise Co.’s emerging contaminant research program (perchlorate, pharmaceuticals, personal care products, fuel oxygenates, and industrial solvents); and corporate health and safety officer. He has significant experience in toxic-tort litigation research and support; toxicological and medical literature research; researching the effects of environmental contaminants on human health including environmental fate and transport modeling (SCREEN3, ISCST3, Johnson-Ettinger Vapor Intrusion Modeling); conducting and managing human health risk assessments for regulatory compliance and risk-based clean-up levels; brownfield redevelopment; conducting and managing environmental management programs; and development of health and safety programs. His research expertise includes the toxicology of volatile organic chemicals, semi-volatile organic chemicals, metals, oxidant chemicals, and chlorinated solvents.
In addition to his research experience, Expert No. 1120 has served as an external reviewer for the USEPA and the Bioremediation Journal. Expert No. 1120 has spoken frequently on the public health implications of environmental contaminants before governmental and professional bodies, including USEPA Office of Research and Development, the National Groundwater Association, and the Groundwater Resources Association. Significant projects performed by Expert No. 1120 include the following:
Expert No. 1120 is managing the oversight of the characterization, remediation and development activities of a former 1,000 acre munitions manufacturing facility. The site is impacted with a number of contaminants including unexploded ordinance, VOCs, and perchlorate. The site is currently under a number of regulatory consent orders, including an Immanent and Substantial Endangerment Order. Expert No. 1120 is assisting the impacted municipality with the development of remediation strategies, interaction with the responsible parties and stakeholders, as well as interfacing with the regulatory agency responsible for oversight of the site cleanup.

Part of research team involved in largest toxic tort in United States. Assessed potential for hexavalent chromium released from power generation station to impact surrounding community. The assessment included pharmacokinetic modeling, simulation of exposure potentials for residents (fate and transport modeling in environment), epidemiological review of chromium and hexavalent chromium, and physiological testing of exposures to hexavalent chromium (dermal absorption, inhalation, and ingestion).

Prepared comprehensive evaluation of the potential health risks associated with the redevelopment of a 13.7 hectares plastic manufacturing facility in Colombia. The risk assessment was used as the basis for the remedial goals and closure of the site.
